Mosoq Nina.
New fire
History of MOSOQ NINA (New Fire)
Mosoq Nina means the ceremony that was one of the main aspects of the INTI RAYMI celebration (main event in Incan culture).
Previous to the Inty Raymi, the virgins of the sun got a commitment with the sun becoming Incan vestals, since its courtship with the sun brought the matrimonial connection with the star.
One of the many missions of the virgins of the sun, was to maintain and to keep the sacred fire or Mosoq Nina in the temple of the sun, when sun light was transformed in fire the priest used in the arm a bracelet called CHIPANA and a locket in concave form that exposed to the sun reflected toward the place where the priest prepared a learned cotton flake, logically for action of the solar rays, they lit up quickly, that fire was considered as sacred and of great grouper, this fire was given into the hands of the virgins of the sun, they took charge of conserving it, immediately it lit up and began to burn the offerings of sacrifice of the aporucos (gifts) that would be consumed in the great party.
